W Hotel’s Wear Wednesday features Designer Carole McClellan
Leather and cashmere were the two staples of Carole McClellan’s new line, Sovereign, debuted at the W Hotel on Wednesday the 13th of November. McClellan got her start designing for the band Heart and has been showcasing her talent ever since. With Sovereign the Seattle designer created a beautiful collection that molded together hard and soft elements. Neutral colors gave her designs a chance to speak for themselves rather then letting the colors take over. The garments varied from leggings, to tops, to jackets and more giving the wearer a chance to create an entire outfit without having to stray outside the line. Simple and chic with an eye for quality is how these pieces can be described. While fashionably attired event goers fawned over this stunning collection they sipped a cocktail concoction dubbed the Smooth and Smokey. This interesting drink started off sweet at first but finished with an earthy aftertaste that kept some guests tasting again and again. The W Hotel provided a wonderful backdrop for the garments. With it’s high ceilings, modern design, and stylish décor this venue complemented the designer’s line very well. The event was part of the W Hotel’s Wear Wednesday, a program that features local talent in an effort to bring the Seattle art community a bit closer together. This year Carole McClellan’s debut of Sovereign was the last of five different Wear Wednesdays for this season. Overall the event was a complete success and will not soon be forgotten.
